August 2018

Dear Students and Parents,

The first day of classes at Clearwater R-I is fast approaching.  It is with great excitement and anticipation that I look forward to welcoming you back for another outstanding school year!

The faculty and staff look forward to greeting each of our students at the upcoming open house events and on the first day of school.  Elementary and Middle School students can visit their classrooms and meet their teachers on Monday, August 13.  Freshmen and newly enrolled high school students can meet their teachers and tour the building on Tuesday, August 14.

As we begin another school year, the District will renew the focus on the key area of student achievement.  The faculty has been collaborating over the summer to continue our work on revising curriculum and assessments to ensure students are receiving the best educational experiences possible.  The District will implement a 1 to 1 technology program in grades 5-12.  Students in grades 7-12 will each have a Chromebook assigned to use in classes throughout the school day and take home to allow for continued learning outside of the school day.  Students in grades 5-6 will have a device assigned to use throughout the school day.  Additional devices assigned to elementary classes will assist in integrating more technology learning experiences into the daily curriculum.

Another key focus area continues to be attendance.  Encouraging regular school attendance is one of the most powerful ways you can help your child succeed in school.  When student attendance is a priority, students make better grades, develop healthy life habits and are better prepared to graduate college and career ready.

In closing, as I enter another year as Superintendent of the Clearwater R-I School District, I continue to be honored to serve our students and community.  It is through your support that we maintain such a wonderful school district!

Sincerely,

Deborah Hand
